【摘要】:ThistestmethodisusedasanindicationofwaterandsedimentinmiddledistillatefuelssuchasGradeNos.1and2fueloil(SpecificationD396),Nos.1-Dand2-Ddieselfuel(SpecificationD975),andNos.0-GT,1-GT,and2-GTgasturbinefuels(SpecificationD2880).Appreciableamountsofwaterandsedimentinafueloiltendtocausefoulingofthefuel-handlingfacilitiesandtogivetroubleinthefuelsystemofaburnerorengine.Anaccumulationofsedimentinstoragetanksandonfilterscreenscanobstructtheflowofoilfromthetanktothecombustor.Waterinmiddledistillatefuelscancausecorrosionoftanksandequipment,andifdetergentispresent,thewatercancauseemulsionsorahazyappearance.Waterisnecessarytosupportmicrobiologicalgrowthatfuelwater-interfacesinfuelsystems.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthevolumeoffreewaterandsedimentinmiddledistillatefuelshavingviscositiesat40176;C(104176;F)intherangeof1.0to4.1mm178;/s(1.0to4.1cSt)anddensitiesintherangeof770to900kg/m179;.Note18212;FuelscorrespondingtoSpecificationD975Grades1Dand2D,SpecificationD2880Grades0-GT,1-GTand2-GT,andSpecificationD3699Grades1-Kand2-Kwillusuallyfallinthisviscosityanddensityrange.TestMethodD1796isintendedforhigherviscosityfueloils.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
